Tell us about yourself
I’m 23, originally from the Dominican Republic but now I live in Leicester. I moved to the UK in 2014.
Why did you decide to do the course?
I’ve been thinking about traineeships for a couple of years as I thought it was a good route into the security sector. I like the idea of working in different sorts of businesses like nightclubs, bars, sports stadiums or shops.
What did the course involve?
I did a lot of training in different areas to get me ready for. I did online training and spoke to the tutors often, both one to one and with groups.
What have you gained from undertaking the course?
I think I’m more prepared for work, the courses and extra support from JIF has helped a lot.
What impact has the course made to your life?
I’ve had a few job offers already as I’m ready to go. It’s nice because I can choose my work based on what I need, like looking after my family.
How did JIF Training support you during your programme?
The tutors at JIF were really helpful and responded quickly when needed. They helped me with questions when I was struggling, and they always explained them in another way if I didn’t understand. They also gave me loads of feedback, which was really useful.
How would you rate JIF Training?
I’d definitely recommend JIF training, I wish I actually could have done more because it was really fun. I’ve told my friends about you too and they want to do the same course.
What are your plans now after completing the course?
I want to get work in security and provide well for my family.
