  • Is the course free?
    Yes, the vast majority of training that we offer is government-funded for those who meet the eligibility criteria. For more information on eligibility criteria, please click here.
  • Where can I go on your Turing Scheme placements?
    In the 2022-2023 academic year we have sent mobilities to Spain, Thailand and Portugal. Already in the works for this year we have Thailand, Mauritius, Portugal and Spain.   • If I fail my final assessment, can I resit for free?
    Yes! If you complete the course and you fail the assessment, we are more than happy to instantly book a resit for you for free. We can also provide extra resources and support to help with studying ready for the next assessment.
  • Can I complete the course in my own time?
    Absolutely! All of our courses are designed with accessibility in mind, ensuring that you are able to complete the course when you want, with no detriment to your learning.
  • Can I enol onto a course whilst working full time?
    You can – we are proud to offer flexible study solutions, ensuring that you are able to get the most out of the course whilst still working. This offer depends on the eligibility criteria for the course – for more information, please click here.
  • Can I bring a friend with me abroad on a Turing Scheme Placement?
    If you have a friend who like to enrol to the Turing Scheme, please do get in touch! We are more than happy to bring friends along, but you both must be enrolled on a course with us to be eligible. For further information on the Turing Scheme, please click here.
  • How long does the course take to complete?
    Time to complete each course varies on the length and individual’s availability, however your tutor will be able to talk through with you all options for completing the course. The course length and timetable will be explained to you during the enrolment process.
  • What support can you give me if I have learning difficulties, such as dyslexia or dyscalculia?
    If a learner has a learning difficulty, our tutors are able to adapt the lessons and resources to ensure that these are accessible and usable. The Functional Skills tutors also have additional resources that are specifically tailored for those with dyslexia and dyscalculia. On top of this, on Skills Forward we are able to adjust the colours on the website to ensure it is more readable for learners. If a learner wants, the tutor can also act as a scribe for them, to remove as many barriers to learning as possible.
  • What does Functional Skills actually mean?
    A Level 2 Functional Skills qualification is the direct equivalent of a grade C/4 GCSE in Maths or English. Functional Skills are now accepted by all employers and universities as a valid qualification, and it never runs out of date.
  • I have a safeguarding concern – who do I report this to?

  • How can I complete my work if I don’t have Microsoft Office?
    We have an office space available for learners to attend and complete their work if they are unable to use Microsoft Office. We are also happy to receive pictures of handwritten notes, or other alternative methods that make the course achievable for the learner. Further support may also be available with regards to supplying IT Equipment. Please discuss this during your enrolment process with the enrolment officer.   • Who is my tutor?
    Depending on what course you are doing, you will have different tutors. We have a number of tutors at JIF Training and your tutor will be allocated to you during the enrolment process. If you are still unsure who your allocated tutor is, please contact alice.johnson@jiftraining.co.uk who will be able to assist you.
  • Are the workshops in groups, or one-to-ones?
    As a diverse provider, we are able to offer a mix of group sessions and one-to-ones depending on what is preferable to you. We tend to offer remote sessions mainly, but we are also able to offer in person sessions for those who are able to attend our head office classroom.
  • Why do I have to give you my personal information?
    As many of our courses are government funded, we have a list of information that we are required to check to ensure you meet the eligibility criteria. All of your data is handled confidentially and in line with GDPR guidelines. For further information on how your data is held, click here.
  • Am I too old to complete a course?
    Never! Whilst not all of our courses have funding eligibility above certain age ranges, we will almost certainly have a course that is suitable for you. Please click here for more information on our adult courses.
  • Can I complete a course even if I have a degree?
    Some of our courses are unfortunately not available for those with degrees. For more information about what you can do, please click here.

  • When can I contact you?
    Our office opening hours are from 8:30am – 16:30pm from Monday - Friday for calls, however if you send an email we will endeavour to respond to you within 24 hours, excluding weekends.
  • What does JIF Training Stand for?
    Jobs in Food is what JIF stands for. When we first opened we specialised within the food sector however, we have since diversified into other areas which is why we now trade as JIF Training.
